2027 Plan Year Open Enrollment
East West's Annual Enrollment is here! This is your chance to make or change elections to your health insurance to take effect on 1/1/2027. This is your only opportunity to make or change elections outside of experiencing a Qualified Life Event.
Overview
Open Enrollment comes with a lot to consider, but you don’t have to figure it all out at once. There are plenty of resources available to help you understand your options and make informed choices. We’ll start with the basics: when you can make your elections, which benefits are provided automatically, which require you to actively enroll, and what happens if you don’t take action during Open Enrollment.
Summary
Open Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to review your benefits and make changes for the upcoming year. Outside of Open Enrollment, changes to most benefit elections can only be made if you experience a qualifying life event (QLE), such as marriage, divorce, birth or adoption of a child, or a change in other coverage.
This year is a Passive Enrollment year, meaning most of your current benefit elections will automatically continue into the new year if you take no action.
- Important Exception - Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs): IRS regulations require employees to make new FSA elections each year. This includes Healthcare, Limited Purpose, and Dependent Care FSAs. Current FSA elections will NOT automatically roll over into 2027. If you wish to participate, you must actively enroll and select your annual contribution amount during this Open Enrollment period.
Open Enrollment runs from October 26 through November 6. This is your window to review your benefits and submit any elections or changes for the upcoming year in Rippling. Any changes must be completed and submitted within this timeframe.
Because this is a Passive Enrollment, if you do not submit changes by November 6, most of your current benefit elections will automatically carry over into the new year. Exceptions apply to benefits that require a new annual election, such as Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
